Punktastic Recordings is dead
It is with a very heavy heart that we today announce Punktastic Recordings is to go on an indefinite hiatus.
We will be releasing Bangbangbang!s digital EP on July 7 and then we will be gone. I would like to do a one-off gig with all our bands past and present as a proper send-off too if we can arrange it. Maybe we will come back, maybe we won't. There are a great many reasons as to why we have come to this decision and while I (Paul) don't intend to go into too much detail in this message, I will in this thread if people want me to.
However, in the last year we have lost our distro deal, had to pay a major label money we didn't think we would have, had magazines and webzines refuse to review or feature our bands because they didn't want to promote anything Punktastic did or does... running a label is the coolest thing in the world until the politics get in the way. The worst thing about this is that while the record industry is going down the pan, we do OK. We survive. We're not quitting because of the money or falling sales or anything like that - we're actually 'bigger' than we have ever been. But it simply isn't fun right now and music doesn't excite us in the same way it did when we started. We need to go away and make it fun again.
Our bands live on and you should check them all out. They're all still going; some will release stuff on new labels (Our Time Down Here are releasing their EP on Banquet now), while some may stick with us and see whether we come back. We'll have more details when the dust settles. There are tonnes of people we would like to thank for their help, love, support etc over the years. You know who you are. We have amazing memories - seeing our Cds in stores all over the world, seeing our bands on some of the biggest stages in the country, seeing some amazing reviews in magazines and hearing tracks on national radio. It's been a blast.
Maybe no-one will care and we will slip away quietly...but you can send any messages/questions/comments to paul@punktastic.com and/or andy@punktastic.com And if you want us to sort (or someone wants to offer to sort) a 'Farewell PT Recs' show let us know!

Big update...coming soon
So there's LOADS happening at PT Recs Towers, so much I couldn't possibly put it all here in the 45 seconds I have before my missus tells me I have to go to bed. However, as a taster, I'm talking to three, yes THREE, new bands about joining the ranks. Who are they? Time will tell if everything goes to plan...

A message from Day of Rising!
Hi!
Ok,we know it has been a really long time since we updated this properly but we will try and make up for it with LOTS of news:
-First of all, we want everyone to know that Dani is back in the band! After moving back to Spain to write our new album we realized we needed to have a bass player that could write and rehearse with us every day. It was impossible for Nik to do it due to him being in the UK, so we asked Dani if he wanted to write an album with us and he said YES!
We're really excited about this! That said,we also wish Nik the best of luck with all of his future projects and we want to thank him a lot for helping us out.
-To celebrate the fact that Dani is back in Day Of Rising ALL the songs our player are available for you to download FOR FREE...so grab them now!
-We're still writing our album which we really hope to release before the end of the year. We think that the songs we have right now are the best we've ever written and we hope you'll think the same once you hear them.
-We will not be touring the UK or Spain properly while we're writing the album because we really want to concentrate on that. We will, however, play some shows around Spain. We've already been confirmed for Festimad and Universimad and we have a couple more summer dates up in the air which we hope to confirm soon. Once the album is released, we will tour Spain, the UK and hopefully some new places in Europe!
-As you have probably noticed, we're currently uploading new pictures. They were taken by the really talented Laura Vallés. She's a great photographer and if you're interested in her work you can check out both of her pages: http://flickr.com/photos/lauravalvil and http://lauravalvil.carbonmade.com
-Merchandising is coming really soon. Trust us.
I think that's it for now, keep on checking our page for updates!
Take care,
Roberto

A message from Ellis and The Misnomer boys...
"So the 20th April will be our last gig as The Misnomer and we start the recording of our debut album on the 21st under the name of Atom Gang. We have many reasons for the name change. First and foremost we pretty much just dont like the current name anymore. Secondly, we have a new album on the way and have decided to start a fresh. Thirdly, we are finally happy with our line up which has taken the best part of 6 years to find. I personally have lost count of the Bass players we have had. Our full time bass player is called Rory P. Dunne. (but you can all call him chips) He drinks with us, lives with us and parties with us and thats all we've ever wanted... a solid bass player who doesn't give a shit about his liver... so thats us, the beginning of Atom Gang.
The Album will be produced and Engineered by Me (yeah, Ellis, that is I) with close ears and eyes from the other three (yeah, them three). I'm personally a bit nervous but the other chaps are not. They have every faith... speaking of faith, the drums are going to be recorded in a giant Church in Berkshire. ooooohhh! A good drum kit in a good size room with a great (yeah, great) drummer will make my job a lot easier. What you put in is what you get out and that is all were going for on this album. The songs are sounding real, alive, deadly and totally honest in the practice room and were going to fuckin' run with that. It's the songs and the rawness of the record that are going to make it shine. The music we have been listening to recently has made us think twice about how we want this album to sound. I don't want perfect anymore, I want a moment.
We have plans for doing a video for the song "Edwood" and releasing it on vinyl with a B-side from one of the album recordings. The Album is set to be finished by the end of May 2008 with a title of "I see" said the blind man. Oh, and there's an EP and record label on the way too. so there.
All the best, all our love, yours truly...

Celebrate us getting dropped by getting FREE music!!
Yesterday was a momentus day here at PT Recs - we got dropped by our distributor! Despite our oversall sales for the first three months of this year being bigger than any other 3-month period in our label's history, our distributor saw fit to drop us. So to celebrate this marvellous achievement we are GIVING AWAY CDs. Yep, FREE music!
So, for a limited time, if you buy A Man Down's latest EP or Day of Rising's 'Unmasking St Minver' EP from the Punktastic webstore athttp://punktastic.bigcartel.com we will give you Fastlane's 'Overdrive' album ABSOLUTELY FREE!
That's two awesome CDs for just £4.
And not only that, but if you want a copy of Punktastic Un-Scene 3 we will send you that as well for...ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Yep, just write Un-Scene 3 in the paypal notes and we'll send you that for free as well. So that's 32 songs, in 3 CDs, for just £4. We must be mad.
All you have to do is buy either A Man Down's EP or Day of Rising's EP from http://punktastic.bigcartel.com and we'll send you the rest. This offer stands while stocks last/until we can be bothered to change it. We're not bummed out about losing our distro and neither should you be - instead just enjoy free music at our expense!

Wembley!
So while our Un-Scene 4 launch bash was about to kick-off, I was at an entirely different London location - Wembley! My beloved Grimsby Town won through to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final against MK Dons so PT made the trip down to support the mighty Mariners!
Wembley really is an impressive ground, we parked a few hundred yards from the ground which is where I took this photo, before the game.
Then I stood below the famous arch as thousands of Grimsby supporters made their way into the ground
Which leads me very nicely on to these photos, which show the ground filling up pre-kick off. Wembley is really an impressive stadium, especially when you are used to travelling to the likes of Mansfield and Rochdale!
A rousing version of the National Anthem kicked the fans off and the game began and while were outplayed, they managed to win a penalty. Which they promptly missed :(
Ultimately we lost 2-0 but I figured the day was worth documenting, even if it has absolutely nothing to do with music at all!

A Man Down are from Brighton and play the kind of pop punk New Found Glory would play if they were kicked in the throat by Captain Everything! They sound a little bit like this: www.myspace.com/amandownbrighton
The band's debut mini-album is OUT NOW! And best of all, you can pay what the hell you like for it! If you think the 7-track EP is worth £5, you can pay £5. If you think it's worth £3, pay £3. You can pay as much, or as little, as you want. The only restriction is you MUST pay a minimum of £1 to cover postage and packing costs - the rest is up to you. And the more you pay, the more you get...those who pay the standard RRP or more (£4) get badges, stickers and extra CDs free as a thank you.
To get your copy of the album simply send as much money as you like via paypal to paul@punktastic.com - in the notes section please mark 'A MAN DOWN RELEASE'. You can also pay by cash or cheque and to find out how to pay by any other means email paul@punktastic.com
You can check out many other items in the Punktastic webstore at http://punktastic.bigcartel.com If you have any queries or questions please email paul@punktastic.com

So we can be informal too...
The one good thing about this new website is that we can blog as well as talk about our bands, which is great for people who like to talk - like me! But please get in touch with us, you can email me at paul@punktastic.com or leave comments. let us know you're reading!
We're also looking to improve the website so please let me know what you'd like to see. I've just added a really clumsy looking myspace player so if anyone knows how to add something a bit smarter please drop me a line!

Our bands!
So incase you are new to Punktastic Recordings, here is a little bit of information about our bands. To get more information, or to hear their music, just click on the appropriate link down the right hand side of this page!
Me vs Hero are a foursome from Preston who play pop-punk with beatdowns in the same way as Four Year Strong or Set Your Goals. We've just released their debut EP and it's available from our webstore!
A Man Down hail from Brighton and play the kind of Fat Wreck skate punk we all listened to and loved in the late 90s. For fans of Captain Everything and New Found Glory - check out their brand new EP!
Brighton's perkiest pop-punks Over and Out are a short, sharp cattle prod up the bum - fusing spikey punk rock riffs with pop melodies - guaranteed to have you singing along all day!
In our eyes Day of Rising are Spain's best band. So good that they joined the Punktastic ranks in 2007 and have never looked back! Driving emo rock in the vein of Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro and Spitalfield!
The Misnomer are one of the best and most talented bands in the UK. Seriously. We're proud of all our boys but these guys are hella good...
Alternative Press magazine described Our Time Down Here as the best melodic hardcore band in the UK. We're inclined to agree...
Fastlane are arguably the best UK pop-punk band of the 21st century. Check out 'Overdrive' for proof...
Mike Scott released his new EP as a free download in January 2008 through PT Recs. For fans of Mike Park and Billy Bragg!
